"After Defeat In 3 States... ": Rahul Gandhi's Attack Over GST Rate Cut

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said the Modi government was forced to bring down the GST rates after electoral verdict in three Hindi heartland states and insisted that the people have already made up their mind to defeat BJP in 2019.

The Bollywood film fraternity today welcomed the move to cut GST rates of movie tickets. Aamir Khan, Karan Johar, Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Subhash Ghai, Prasoon Joshi and others took to social media to commend the move to reduce tax on movie tickets of two different price ranges.

GST on these items has been cut from 28 percent to 18 percent.

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council on Saturday cut rates of 33 items from 18 per cent to 12 per cent and 5 per cent, Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy said, following a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. The meeting at Vigyan Bhawan was attended by finance ministers all the states.
