Debit, Credit Cards May Not Be Available In Physical Form In Future, Says Gautam Aggarwal
Aggarwal said: "The idea of what a (debit or credit) card would look like in future is anybody's guess. My idea is that it wouldn't exist in the form of plastic. You can tokenise and digitise your card in your phone, watch, etc. I don't think it will exist in physical plastic form in future. That time is not far away when paying will be a subconscious thing, not a conscious thing. It will be like the air you breathe."
He added: "We have to create trust in the ecosystem. It's about convenience, safety and trust without friction. Today, whatever we do requires OTP. We are working to remove OTP and replace it with biometrics, and that would remove the friction aspect. We are enabling agentic commerce in the online world. Asked if the EV ecosystem in India here to stay or is it a hype, Hariyani said: "If you are driving your Lamborgini or Ferrari to office everyday, every car will look like a toy car. 80% of our energy needs are still imported- be it coal, crude oil. When we talk about electric mobility- there are two components - vehicle and the fuel. When we look at the fuel part, electricity is produced from various sources in India. Behind The Scenes Of Day 2 Of NDTV World Summit
The stage is set for Day 2 of the #NDTVWorldSummit - here is a look at behind the scenes
Former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott on Friday called Pakistan a "military dictatorship" as opposed to India - a "liberal democracy". Speaking at the NDTV World Summit 2025, Abbott said one of the biggest mistakes the US made during the Cold War was consistently "tilting towards Pakistan".
"One of the big mistakes that America made during the Cold War period was consistently tilting towards Pakistan - a military dictatorship, as opposed to India - a liberal democracy. For the last 20 years, Americans, very sensibly, have been trying to rectify that. I think this is a serious setback, but given the fundamental community of interests and values that India does have with the democracies, I think it landed a temporary setback," Abbott said.
"America's fundamental interests lie in a strong friendship with India compared to Pakistan. India's fundamental interests lie in a strong partnership with fellow democracies, much less than with dictatorships," he added.
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya on Friday said India's neighbourhood first policy is helping all the neighbouring countries.
Speaking at the NDTV World Summit on "Steering change in uncertain times", she thanked India for its support during the economic crisis in 2022. "This support is a lasting reminder that India's help at our hour of need is remembered and deeply valued by our people," she said.
India, she said, "redefined leadership" during the crisis.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the era of a "silent India" in the face of terrorism is over, asserting that the country now gives a "befitting response" to those who threaten its security. Speaking at the NDTV World Summit 2025, the Prime Minister referred to Operation Sindoor as an example of India's decisive stance on cross-border terrorism.
"Now, the self-reliant India does not stay silent. It gives a befitting response through surgical strikes, airstrikes, and Operation Sindoor," PM Modi said, drawing applause from the audience.
Nick Booker, the co-founder at IndoGenius, will be among the attendees and speakers at the NDTV World Summit today. As co-founder and CEO of IndoGenius, Nick Booker advises international universities, companies, government agencies, and investors on building engagement with India. His clients include the New Zealand Prime Minister's Scholarship for Asia, the Australian Government's New Colombo Plan, and many universities and organisations from the UK, US, Germany, France, New Zealand, and Australia. He has also collaborated with the British Council, UKIERI, the Institut Francais, the European Commission, and the US Department of State.
The old global order that people of his generation grew up with "is gone" and the focus will now be on multipolarity and domestic capabilities, former UK Prime Minister Sunak has said.
Speaking at the NDTV World Summit on Friday, Sunak also spoke about the India-UK trade deal and how China doesn't play by the same rules as others.
"The old global order, or globalisation, that I grew up with, which came into place after the fall of the Berlin Wall, that is gone, and I don't think it is coming back. But a couple of themes are clear: There will be more multipolarity in the world - and India is an example of that - and I think the second is countries everywhere are focused much more on domestic capabilities," he said.
Neil Thompson, Director of the FutureTech Research Project at MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), is among the leaders attending the NDTV World Summit today.
Since May 2021, Thompson has served as Director of MIT's FutureTech research initiative, where he focuses on emerging technologies and their impact on business and society. Simultaneously, he holds the position of Principal Research Scientist at MIT's Initiative on the Digital Economy.
At the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), his roles have progressed from Associate Member to Research Scientist and, most recently, Principal Research Scientist.
Thompson was also an assistant professor of innovation and strategy at MIT Sloan School of Management, where he co-directed the Experimental Innovation Lab (X-Lab).
Ricky Kej, an Indian music composer and three-time Grammy Award winner, is set to take the stage today. He began his career as a keyboardist for the band Angel Dust. In 2003, he founded his own studio, Raveolution, and became a full-time composer. Till date, Ricky Kej has released 24 studio albums and composed music for over 3,500 commercials and eight feature films. His career is further distinguished by his environmental advocacy, earning him the title of UN Global Humanitarian Artist and recognition from the Parliament of Canada.
He will be leading an exciting session titled "Music and Conclusion" today.

Urban Maoists Dominated During Congress Rule, Says PM Modi
Speaking on Maoism, PM Modi said: "Naxalwaad comes from Maoist terror. During the Congress rule, there was dominance of the ecosystem of urban Maoists. Several victims of Maoist terror came to Delhi a few days ago. Many of them had lost their limbs to Maoism. They were in Delhi for seven days. But the contractors of Maoism didn't let their plea reach the world. In the last 50-55 years, thousands were killed by Maoist terror. These Maoists will not get schools or hospitals built. They will not let doctors enter hospitals. They would bomb institutions."
He added: "Maoist terror was an injustice to the youth of people and I couldn't have let this happen to them. I used to feel agitated. This is the first time I am expressing my pain to the world. Which is why, after 2014, we made efforts to bring these wayward youth to the mainstream. Today, the country is seeing the results of these efforts."
Modi Government Focuses On Making People's Lives Easier, Says PM At NDTV World Summit
"Listen to all their (Congress') speeches from the Red Fort, all of them were about the poor. But they couldn't reduce poverty. Today, there is a dedicated government for the poor, we prioritise those marginalised. Congress did not leave any stone unturned in destroying BSNL. Today, BSNL is scaling new heights... A sensitive government and a government dedicated towards democracy and Constitution makes such decisions and policies. Our stress is on making people's lives easier and increasing their savings," PM Modi said.

Congress Tried To Shut Fuel Pumps To Avoid Government Subsidies, Says PM Modi
Continuing his attack on the Congress, PM Modi said: "In the petrol and gas sector, before 2014, so that they don't have to give subsidies, Congress was planning to close petrol pumps from 8 pm to 8 am. Now the stations are open 24x7. In 2013, the Congress was brainstorming if they should give six cylinders or nine cylinders per year. We gave free gas connections to 10 crore people. In that era of governmentalisation, they would put locks on PSUs if they were not performing well. But, we changed that thought, and all our PSUs are making new records of profits."

"Created Mountain Of NPAs": PM Modi Hits Out At Congress
Hitting out at the previous Congress-led Centre, PM Modi said: "Unlike the Congress, we worked towards democratising policies; this is the driving force behind 'Unstoppable Bharat'. The Congress distanced people from banks. Poor people were scared to go to the banks. When we took over, half of the population didn't even have bank accounts."
He added: "Banks were nationalised during Indira Gandhi's tenure with an argument that banking has to reach the poor. But in reality, banks moved away from the poor. In 2014, when we came to power, half of India's population did not have a bank account. We democratised the banking system, and opened more than 50 crore Jan Dhan accounts in mission mode. We took the country out of this governmentalisation. We brought reforms into the banking sector. Digital transactions have made India one of the most inclusive countries in terms of finance. Congress governments created mountain of NPAs (non-performing assets)."

NDTV World Summit Live Updates: India Took On Every Challenge After 2014, Says PM Modi
"I will try to contextualise it in terms of the situation 11 years ago. Before 2014, the discussions would be on how India would brace for global headwinds, till when India will be in policy paralysis, when scams will stop, and there were questions about women's security. There were terrorist sleeper cells and 'mehengai dayan khaye jaat hai' was popular. Then everyone thought India would not be able to come out of this. But India took on every challenge. Now, from the fragile five, it has become a part of the top five economies. Inflation is below 2%," PM Modi said.
"There are a number of roadblocks across the world, the topic (Unstoppable India) becomes relevant. Before 2014, recall the topics that were discussed in conclaves. Discussions centred around how will India face global headwinds? How will it remain in a state of policy paralysis?" PM Modi said. On Shami's non-selection and complaints regarding the snub for the upcoming Australia tour: "If he says that to me, I will probably answer that. I mean if he was here, I would probably do that. I am not quite sure what he said on social media. Maybe if I read that, I might give him a call but my phone is always on for all the players. I have had multiple chats with him over the last few months, but I don't want to try and give you a headline here.
"He has been an incredible performer for India. If he said something, maybe that is a conversation for me to have with him or him to have with me. But even before England, we said if he was fit, he would have been on the plane. Unfortunately, he wasn't and our domestic season has just started."

NDTV World Summit Live Updates: Agarkar On Kohli, Rohit's Test Retirement
Agarkar states that he did not read any 'hate mails' directed at him regarding the Test retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
"I did not read them. Both (Kohli and Rohit) were very aware of the situation of a new WTC cycle, and perhaps they felt that they wouldn't have gone for another two years. England was a series where we would've loved some experience. But they had made their decision. When they've made a particular decision, you have to respect that."

NDTV World Summit Live Updates: Agarkar On Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma's Future
Agarkar: "They are part of the squad at the moment for Australia. They've been incredible players for a long period of time. 2027 (World Cup) is a long way away, but you're not going to put them on trial because they have ODI averages of over 50 or close to 50."
"Two years from now, it is difficult to say what the situation will be. Who knows, there can be younger players who will take the spot. Both are great players, and they will not be put to the test in every match. Once they start playing, we will assess the situation. It is about winning trophies, not just runs. It is not like if they score three hundreds in the Australia series, they will play the World Cup in 2027. We have to take the situation into consideration."
